Tirunelveli district has received a significant boost in its financial roadmap for 2025, with a comprehensive credit plan promising ₹20,360.78 crore in priority sector lending. The highlight of this plan is the massive allocation of ₹16,793.65 crore for agriculture loans, aiming to support farmers, dairy, poultry, and fishery sectors across the district.

Major Highlights of Tirunelveli Credit Plan 2025:

  • Agriculture Sector: ₹16,793.65 crore has been earmarked to support farming activities, including allied sectors like dairy, poultry farming, and aquaculture.

  • Industrial Growth: ₹2,862.15 crore has been allotted for the establishment of new industries and the expansion of existing manufacturing units.

  • Housing Loans: ₹215.48 crore has been allocated to support housing developments and homebuyers.

  • Educational Loans: ₹34.02 crore has been set aside to assist students with tuition fees and educational expenses.

  • Other Priority Sectors: ₹455.48 crore will be made available for various other essential areas under priority sector lending.

District Collector Dr. R. Sukumar, while unveiling the credit plan, emphasized the importance of timely disbursal of pending loan applications. He urged bankers to expedite the process and ensure that loans reach the intended beneficiaries, especially those involved in agriculture and allied industries.

"Above all, educational loans should be given to deserving candidates to ensure unhindered continuation of their studies," said Dr. Sukumar.

The event was also attended by Lead District Manager Ganesh Manikandan, Project Director (Mahalir Thittam) Lakkuvan, and several other officials committed to inclusive financial development in the region.
