International Yoga Day 2025 Observed Across Tirunelveli with Great Zeal

Tirunelveli joined the global celebrations of International Yoga Day 2025 with a series of yoga sessions conducted across various public spaces, educational institutions, and government departments on Saturday, June 21. The city witnessed enthusiastic participation from the general public, students, faculty members, and law enforcement officers, all coming together to embrace the ancient discipline of yoga.

Public Yoga Sessions Mark Unity and Wellness

In Palayamkottai’s Thirumal Nagar park, Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthiran took part in the morning yoga session, motivating the local residents to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. Speaking at the event, he highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration, “One Earth, One Life”, emphasizing the importance of yoga in achieving inner peace, physical health, and emotional well-being.

“Yoga is not just a practice but a lifestyle. Practicing yoga daily leads to a healthier mind and body, which in turn contributes to a peaceful society,” said Mr. Nagenthiran.

City Police Lead by Example

The Tirunelveli City Police, known for their community engagement, actively participated in a large-scale yoga session held at the Armed Reserve Police Ground in Palayamkottai. In addition to police officers, their family members also joined in, showcasing yoga’s role in improving the well-being of individuals in demanding professions.

Youth Take the Lead at VOC Ground

A major highlight was the yoga session at VOC Ground, where hundreds of students, youth, and general public gathered early in the morning. Under the guidance of local yoga instructors, participants performed asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation practices in unison.

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Joins the Celebration

At Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, the observance took an academic turn with Vice-Chancellor Dr. N. Chandrasekar, Registrar Dr. J. Sacratees, faculty members, and students actively participating in a structured yoga session. The event was conducted by esteemed yoga experts K. A. Leelavathy, S. Subramanian, E. Mahalakshmi, and S. M. Adithya Saravanan, who educated the attendees on the scientific benefits of yoga and demonstrated postures suitable for all age groups.
