In a shocking incident that highlights the dangers of irresponsible road behavior, Nanguneri Police have arrested two individuals for performing a hazardous stunt by riding on the roof of a luxury car along the Tirunelveli–Nagercoil National Highway on June 12.
The incident came to light after a video of the stunt went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and concern. In the footage, two men were seen dangerously balancing themselves atop a moving car—endangering not only their own lives but also the safety of fellow commuters.
Accused Identified as Thoothukudi Residents
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prabhu (30) and Isakki Raja (26), both hailing from Thoothukudi district. According to police investigations, the duo engaged in the reckless act during a drive on the highway, blatantly violating motor vehicle rules and road safety regulations.
As per reports, both individuals were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the stunt. The luxury car used in the act has been seized by the police as part of the investigation.
Strict Action Ensured by Tirunelveli SP
Reacting swiftly, Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan stated that strict legal action will be taken against those who indulge in such dangerous and unlawful activities. He also emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and urged citizens to abide by traffic rules to ensure a safer environment for everyone.
“Such acts will not be tolerated. We urge the public to report any instances of traffic violations and dangerous stunts to the authorities. Every life matters, and safety must come first,” said SP Silambarasan.
A Wake-Up Call for Social Media Sensations
This incident serves as a grim reminder that seeking viral fame through dangerous stunts can have severe consequences. While social media continues to influence behavior, public roads are not meant for thrill-seeking performances. The safety of all road users must be prioritized above all else.
